Reading Mencken, I noticed that he mentioned that there was a strong ex-Confederate presence in Baltimore and the rest of Maryland. Are there any good books that talk about Maryland and Baltimore during the War between the States and its aftermath?
Yes, absolutely. Bart Talbert, “The South’s First Casualty” is the best. You can get it on Amazon but it is out of print so expensive.
